About Stourbridge

Stourbridge is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, in the West Midlands county of England. Historically part of Worcestershire and situated on the River Stour, Stourbridge developed during the industrial revolution into a centre of glass making. As of 2018, the town includes the suburbs of Amblecote, Lye, Norton, Oldswinford, Pedmore, Wollaston, Wollescote, and Wordsley.

Stourbridge has an extensive “old quarter”, with well looked after bungalows for sale, houses, largely Victorian. Other favoured areas of Stourbridge tend to be to the South and West of the town centre, Norton and Oldswinford, towards Hagley and villages such as Churchill, Clent, Kinver and Belbroughton.

What’s the average house price in Stourbridge?

Last year most property sales in Stourbridge involved semi-detached properties which sold for on average £183,581. Detached properties sold for an average price of £310,270, while terraced properties fetched £167,390.

Stourbridge, with an overall average price of £207,943, was similar in terms of sold prices to nearby Wollaston (£214,579), but was more expensive than Wordsley (£172,373) and Brierley Hill (£147,787).

During the last year, sold prices in Stourbridge were similar to the previous year and 7% up on 2015 when the average house price was £193,857, says Rightmove.

The average price for property in Stourbridge stood at £261,396 in June 2018. This is a fall of 0.80% in the last three months (since March 2018) and rise of 1.20% since 12 months ago. In terms of property types, flats in Stourbridge sold for an average of £149,037 and terraced houses for £173,886. This is according to the current Zoopla estimates.
